The New Thing

I have a guilty pleasure. I love high school movies. I have always kind of loved high school movies. There is just something about the rhythm and flow and characters and personality and lessons and almost everything about these dumb movies that I enjoy a great deal. I do my best to see every one I come across, and for several of them, I've returned to them again and again and again.

Another thing about me is that I am absolutely terrible about making lists. Keeping track. Keeping tabs. I know that this is the thing now, and people will make and post and share and discuss their lists of books they read or movies they saw last year, or their favorite ______ movies, etc. My son catalogues every movie he watches on his Letterboxd app. Maybe it's the Gen X in me or maybe my dissolute lifestyle but I have never really felt compelled to do this. It's possible that I do not want to explore the number of titles that I began and did not finish. Or maybe that I'm too lazy and inconsistent to keep reasonable track. In any event, it's never been my thing.

However, we all need to grow and change, and for some dumb reason, I've decided to do this. I'm going to watch (or rewatch) and review, comment, discuss, etc. each of the 70 Teen films on this list.

There are additional films out there which maybe if I can sustain this project I'll get to, but 70 feels like enough to get going.

If anyone ever reads this, and you like it or hate it, let me know. Nothing can change in a vacuum.
